This is not an accident investigation report.

The Caravelle hit a mountain ridge at 1600ft 50nm from the airport. The aircraft was on a straight-in approach to runway 30 out of FL135 at the time. PROBABLE CAUSE: Descended below minimum prescribed altiude, probably because the pilots thought they were closer to Dubai than they actually were, due to incorrect information on the outdated flight plan and/or due to a misreading of the weather radar.
