This is not an accident investigation report.

On 8th June 1995 flight 597 a ValueJet McDonnell Douglas DC9-32 encountered an engine fire on take-off. Fatigue in the compressor disk caused the engine to disintegrate and catch fire. Parts from the damaged engine penetrated into the cabin causing a cabin fire.
